PARISH – Not many elementary students in this world can boast that they are published authors. But, students in Hannah Weigel’s and Maria Walter’s class have the book to prove it!

The students each wrote a page in the book and created their own illustrations divided into four sections that told readers more details about themselves.
Their stories shared some biographical information and included what they like, don’t like, what they want to do when they grow up and what makes them unique.
The class teachers combined the pages into a book, sent the pages and illustrations off to be published and had the hardcover books printed.

They hosted the publishing party to celebrate their students’ achievements.
Special invited guests attended, including family, friends, teachers, elementary principals and the APW Superintendent.
Each student took turns reading their section of the book in front of the audience and following the presentation, audience members could ask questions of the presenters.

A cake and punch reception was held afterwards and students autographed books for each other.
A copy of the book was ordered by the teachers and donated to the APW Elementary School Library where any student can check out the book.
