FULTON, NY – ARC of Oswego County has announced that its 5th Annual ARC of Oswego Gala fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 7 to 10pm, in the elegant surroundings of Oasis at Thunder Island in Fulton. The Gala will feature a full buffet dinner, live entertainment from The Cortini Brothers, dancing, a silent auction, raffles, and more. Tickets are $50 per person and are available by calling (315) 598-3108. Guest emcee for the event will be Tammy Palmer, news anchor from Your News Now (Channel 10). All proceeds support ARC of Oswego County, a nonprofit providing services to individuals with disabilities since 1955.

ARC of Oswego County currently provides services to over 400 individuals, most of whom have intellectual or other developmental disabilities. Among the services provided is Early Intervention, in which trained professionals evaluate and assist children between birth and age 3, and offer education and support to families of children with disabilities. Early detection and support of developmental disabilities is critical, as children who receive assistance services before age 3 are shown to need only half of the services of the course of their lifetime as children whose disabilities are not identified until pre-school or later. Other services provided by ARC of Oswego County include Guardianship Assistance for families, Social-Recreation and Respite programs, and Day Habilitation for senior citizens with disabilities.

The Cortini Brothers’ musical talent and song selection have made them one of Oswego County’s most popular bands. Featuring Joe Cortini on drums and Kimo Cortini on keyboards and vocals, the band frequently performs with vocalists Joanna Jewett and Tommy Ciappa, as well as other talented Central New York musicians.

Sponsors for this year include Galaxy Communications/Sunny 102 as Radio Sponsor, Time Warner Cable/Your News Now as Television Sponsor, and major sponsorships from The Bonadio Group and Americar Leasing. Silent auction items and “Balloon Buy” gift certificates have been donated by 7:47 Aviation, Four Seasons Quilters, Organically Hip, Canale’s Restaurant, Pompadour Salon, Ramona’s Dressings, and more. Other sponsors and supporters include Dowd’s Flower Shop, Oswego Printing, Presentation Concepts Corporation, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Alliance Bank, Fulton Savings Bank, VFW Post 569 Fulton, Pathfinder Bank, Oswego Family Physicians, Key Bank, Oswego Valley Insurance Agencies, EmPower Federal Credit Union, and Oswego Elks Lodge.

ARC of Oswego County is a private, not-for-profit organization which has been providing programs and services to children and seniors with disabilities since 1955. Services include Early Intervention and evaluation services for infants and toddlers, guardianship assistance, recreational and respite activities, senior day habilitation programs, and more. Its mission is to be a leader in the field of developmental disabilities, committed to meeting the needs of individual growth, productivity, and independence through education, advocacy, and increased community acceptance and participation. Its sister agency, Oswego Industries, Inc., provides services to adults with disabilities: together creating a comprehensive support system for Oswego County residents with disabilities.
