Area Bikers “Ride for Ramps” to Benefit ARISE Oswego County Ramp Project

On June 13 2010, area bikers are encouraged to collect pledges, send a donation, and show up to ride for the benefit of the ARISE Oswego County Ramp Project in the second annual “Ride for Ramps” event. All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome in the 155-mile tour through the Oswego County countryside.

Bikers will rally at the New Haven Fire Station, State Route 104, New Haven, NY at 11 AM to tour as a group starting at noon. Three rest stops are planned along the route, and refreshments will be available on return.

The ARISE Oswego County Ramp Project builds and installs ramps for individuals with disabilities and their families who otherwise cannot afford the home modification. For someone who uses a wheelchair or who has mobility impairments, a single step can present a barrier to entering or leaving his or her home. A ramp can be a gateway to independence. This ongoing project has changed the lives of many Oswego County residents through the years. Some have returned home from nursing homes, while others have been able to get out and participate in the community they love

Ramps are designed and constructed by volunteers in the First United Methodist Church of Oswego and the greater Oswego County community. With enough funds for materials, the volunteers can create more than twenty ramps per year.

“Ride for Ramps” bikers will not only enjoy a great ride, but will help out a great cause. For more information on the ride, contact Jason at 751-6757. To find out more about the Ramp Project, contact ARISE at 342-4088.
