The National Association of Social Workers have endorsed state Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine for re-election in the 48th Senate District saying he will best represent social workers and the people they serve in the state Legislature.
“Darrel is a strong voice for the needs of the people we serve in Central and Northern New York,” said Kristin Tooley, social worker, Watertown resident, and NASW-NYS PAC trustee for Central New York. “He knows the value of hard work and understands the importance of social work in the lives of so many New Yorkers. Darrel’s presence in the 48th means that the message and values of social workers and the people we serve here will be delivered to our Capitol. As a constituent and a social worker of ten years for the North Country Children’s Clinic, I look forward to our continuing work in serving the residents of the 48th Senate District.”
NASW-NYS focuses on many issues critical to Senator Aubertine and the 48th Senate District, including rural poverty, policy for our aging populations, and the needs of our military service members and their families.
“This endorsement comes from people who work so hard for the betterment of so many lives in Central and Northern New York,” Sen. Aubertine said. “Social workers are tremendous allies to the military, aging and lower-income people in our region. I will continue working toward improving the economy in Central and Northern New York and making sure we have the services in place to take care of the people who need help the most.”
Since its inception in 1955, the National Association of Social Workers has had a three-fold purpose to strengthen and unify the profession as a whole, to promote the development of social work practice, and to promote human well being through social action. NASW is the largest membership association for professional social workers in the world, with 160,000 members in the United States and overseas.
The New York State Chapter of NASW has 12,000 members in upstate New York, including more than 500 in its Central Division, which encompasses Senator Aubertine’s district.
