Oswego, NY –  The Best Western Captain’s Quarters, in Oswego, New York, has received the Best Western Director’s Award for outstanding quality standards. The Director’s Award recognizes Best Western International hotels scoring in the top 20 percent of all 2,400 North American properties in both cleanliness and maintenance. Hotels must also meet Best Western’s requirements for design and high customer service scores to qualify for the distinction.

“The Director’s Award is an important symbol of success,” said Tracey Hawthorn, Director of Operations for the Broadwell Companies, who own and operate the hotel. “This award confirms the Best Western Captain’s Quarters commitment to providing the highest quality of accommodations for our guests. All of the departments within the hotel have collaborated together to facilitate this achievement. We are so very proud of our staff.”

Located at 26 East First Street in Oswego, the hotel includes 93 rooms, as well as a health club with indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and steam room. The facility is also currently undergoing a 36,000 sq. ft. expansion that will offer a 450-seat conference center, 18 additional hotel rooms and a restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating adjacent to the Oswego Harbor on Lake Ontario.

In addition to the Director’s Award, the hotel also recently earned the designation of Best Western PLUS. In 2010, Best Western International established three rankings for its hotels, including: Best Western, Best Western PLUS and Best Western PREMIER. These titles were created for the chain to better suit guests’ specific traveling needs.

According to Hawthorn, being considered for a ranking of Best Western PLUS requires the hotel to meet specific requirements – including AAA 3-diamond rated exterior architecture and guest room designs; landscaping; outdoor furniture and gathering spaces; lobby and front desk designs; recreation area; business center and vending facilities; and public spaces. The designation of Best Western PLUS provides guests with added values to their overall experience and stay.

“We are proud of being a Best Western PLUS said Hawthorn. “And, this ranking is representative of the significant enhancements and customer-centric upgrades that have been made throughout the hotel.”

“The acknowledgement of the award and new ranking are highly valued amongst our staff.  This recognition has set the bar for our hotel going forward, and we look forward to building upon our existing high qualities to always ensure an overall exceptional customer experience,” she added.

Best Western International is the world’s largest hotel family, providing marketing, reservations and operational support to 4,200 independently owned and operated member hotels in 80 countries and territories worldwide. Founded in 1946, The Best Western hosts 400,000 worldwide guests each night.
