Bill Grace, Board President of CNY Arts Center, visited Fulton Sunrise Rotary to talk about the organization’s 23-year history, recent updates, programs, and aspirations. He recalled the first time he heard Nancy Fox talk about starting a center for arts in Fulton. Under her guidance, and with the support of a dedicated board and Fulton residents, the center has grown from a dream to being a significant part of our community culture. Initially offering a few art classes the center now offers a diverse range of artistic opportunities for all ages and a theater program that rivals those in larger cities. This program often creates the opportunity for new artistic programs to be developed. The center has been housed in several locations over two decades. Now on a permanent site, conveniently located in downtown Fulton, it can create spaces  and programs to meet the needs and dreams of the community. When Fulton received the State Downtown Revitalization Initiative CNY Arts Center was able to pursue a major renovation. The roof is being raised to accommodate better theater experiences, new windows and lighting are being installed, the basement is being developed into a  Black Box theater (a space for smaller productions), and the exterior is being updated. During construction the center has been closed. They have fortunately been able to hold two productions at the Education Center. When the facility reopens in February Fulton will have a state-of-the-art facility. The re-opening will be marked by the first Black Box theater production “The Mating Game”.  Fulton Sunrise Rotary has proudly supported CNY Arts Center since its opening in 2011 and looks forward to continuing to do so in the future.
