OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Writing Institute has been held for the past five years during the summer to provide high quality professional development to teachers with workshops that involve them in seeing themselves as writers as well as workshops that teach the process of writing to their students.
This year, Barry Lyga and Suzanne Bloom were two outstanding guest authors that participated.

At the conclusion of the workshops the Oswego Writing Institute Award was presented to an individual who has made significant contributions in the field of writing and the teaching of writing at SUNY Oswego, the K-12 schools and/or in the community of Oswego.
The honor was given to Bill Reilly who is joined by (left to right) Professor Sharon Kane, Oswego School District Reading teacher Joan Dain, Professor Chris Walsh and Oswego City School Director of Literacy Laura Ryder.
