OSWEGO, NY – Residents and children of all ages went back in time to the Victorian era recently thanks to the Richardson-Bates Museum and AmeriCorps member Nicole Westerbeck.
The program gave children of all ages and seniors the opportunity to learn, experience, and reminisce about a time long since passed.
Victorian games, attire and music was all part of the ambiance for the afternoon.
While children learned games of dominoes, jacks, and cat’s cradle, residents donned their lace and wide rimmed hats while playing crochet and making decorative flowers.
“While the program was a unique learning experience for the children who attended, it was a part of history that many residents recall from their own parents and grandparents of an era long ago,†said Julie Chetney, senior living coordinator.
