Bishop’s Commons to Host Forum Designed to Help the Community Understand Senior Housing Options

OSWEGO – Are you confused by all the various terms used today to describing senior housing options? Do you wonder what the difference is between “independent”, “enriched” or “assisted” living? Are you or someone you know considering a move sometime in the future and interested in information about the services and amenities available at places like Bishop’s Commons?

Then the “Understanding Senior Housing Options Today” forum will be a good place to start.

Experts from Bishop’s Commons and St. Francis Commons will host an hour-long informational forum designed to provide an overview of the various levels of care or supportive services offered in the community, some of the important differences, and give those attending a chance to talk with residents of Bishop’s Commons and hear firsthand about their own experiences transitioning into an enriched living residence.

“We know that when making decisions about senior housing the most difficult step is the often first; learning what is available and understanding what the differences are,” said Karen Murray, executive director at Bishop’s Commons and St. Francis Commons. “By hosting this forum in a relaxed setting we hope to give those attending resources that will prove useful when undertaking the process of evaluating the various levels of services and amenities that are out there before deciding what may be right for you or a family member.”

The forum will be offered at two times; Monday November 3 from noon to 1 p.m. and again on November 6 from 6 – 7 p.m.

The forum will be held at Bishop Commons Enriched Living Residence, 4 Burkle Street in Oswego. The forum is free of charge and open to the public.

Lunch will be served at the November 3 forum while dinner will be served on November 6.
