FULTON – After G. Ray Bodley’s graduation ceremony, the Fulton community will say goodbye to 87 athletes who spent their high school years achieving success in sports.

The 2017 senior athletes were honored during the Fulton Athletic Booster Club’s annual senior recognition banquet, held recently at The Oasis.

As each senior athlete paraded alphabetically into the packed reception area, they were met with thunderous applause and cheers from guests, school administrators and Booster Club supporters.

Club President Dan Shue said it will be sad to see the talent move on, while Fulton City School District Athletic Director Christopher Ells shared top individual and team honors.

After a delicious buffet-style dinner, guest speaker Mike Kitts, a GRB graduate and current head coach of Hannibal High School’s varsity football and wrestling teams, encouraged students to take a moment to remember who and what helped shape their athletic success.

Special recognition was awarded to Section III team champions and to Joan and Anson Reed as the Judy and Dave Trepasso Fans of the Year.

Senior athletes honored were Will Caster, Dale Tombs Baseball Award; Nicole Hansen and Connor Broderick, Barney Naioti Leadership Award; Brittney Alton and Ken Deloff, Joe Castiglia Effort Award; Sarah Tallents and Austin Greenier, Gene Adams Most Improved Award; Sabrina Verdoliva and Evan Beckwith, Sox Suber Sportsmanship Award; Sydney Gilmore and Frank Barbagallo, Dan McGinnis Senior Athlete of the Year Award; Gage McHenry, Rick Luciano Football Award; Sarah Tallents, Danielle Rae Kunzwiler Guistina Scholarship; Ken Deloff and Miranda Prosser, Brian Dodge Scholarship; Aryelle Barbagallo, Margaret Beckwith Scholarship and Nathan Shaw, Carl Barton Scholarship.

Ells closed out the night as he thanked all coaches for helping to produce the stellar senior athletes.

All seniors also received a shirt and flower.
