FULTON, NY – Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow, announced that Brandi Runge will serve as an assistant in agency’s Emergency Services program.
In her new role as Emergency Services Assistant, Runge will be responsible for providing assistance with applications for the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Catholic Charities’ prescription medication assistance program, preparing for and coordinating the agency’s monthly food distributions, and overseeing the Youth Services workers and volunteers that assist the food pantry and the thrift shop.
Runge, who previously worked as an administrative assistant at the Fulton Mills Apartments in Fulton, is familiar with the many human services programs that Catholic Charities of Oswego County offers and excited about the opportunity to work with the agency.
“I became familiar with Catholic Charities through the agency’s interaction with the residents at the Fulton Mills Apartments. Catholic Charities’ Donna’s Place program would host special events for the residents and children in Catholic Charities’ Amigo Project would volunteer to help with the residents’ garden and help beautify the grounds at the apartments. It gave me the opportunity to learn more about what Catholic Charities does and see first-hand the impact their programs have on those they serve,†explained Runge.
“I enjoy working with people and helping those in need. Working at Catholic Charities Emergency Services program provides me with endless opportunities to do just that as our food pantry and our food distributions are busier than ever. It was awesome to work at my first food distribution and see the amount of people that attend them. It was very rewarding to see the food going to good use to feed those in need. It’s great that Catholic Charities is there to help. I encourage those who can to consider donating to our food pantry and thrift store. With the growing number of people that are depending on our food pantry, donations are always welcome,†she added.
