It was the first major event for the recently founded Campers Against Cancer.

With thousands of campers onsite, a corn hole tournament, food, merchandise sales and with sponsors like Brennan Beach, Monster Energy Drink and Meyer’s RV Superstore organizers had high hopes for their fundraising efforts.

Sponsors and Brennan Beach campers came out in force as the original goal of $5,000 was more than doubled.

Nearly $12,000 was raised during the corn hole tournament and Campers Against Cancer festivities.

The fundraiser was held because of “the heartbreak of the loss of a great friend, Mrs. Deb Perry, 54, on March 12, 2017.”

It triggered the need to do something, even if it were a small gesture of love. The horrible disease was invading home after home and we wanted a way to fight back and help raise awareness, according to organizer Melata Snell.
