FULTON, NY – Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Karrie Damm has announced that Nicole Raymond has joined the staff as a victim advocate.
Raymond, who graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelors Degree in Human Development, discovered the CAC while searching for internship possibilities.
“When I read about the work that the CAC does I knew it was the right fit for me. It was everything I am interested in and wanted to pursue,” said Raymond.
As a victim advocate, Raymond will be providing crisis intervention to children and their families who have been victims of abuse.
In addition, she will accompany families to court dates, schedule medical exams and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide families with the specific services they need for their unique needs.
“I appreciate that I am able to work with the multi-disciplinary team and ensure that the families I work with receive the support they need. It is rewarding to know that by providing children and their families who are victims of abuse with crisis intervention, as well as support on the judicial level, I am making a difference in their lives by helping them when they need it the most,” said Raymond.
Comprised of a cross-section of law enforcement investigators, child protective services, medical providers, therapeutic professionals, victim support professionals and the district attorney’s office, the CAC’s multi-disciplinary team works to reduce the trauma to children and respective family members undergoing investigation of child sexual and physical abuse.
Through the efforts of the multi-disciplinary team, children and their families who are victims of abuse are able to receive the specific services they require.
“We are pleased to have Nicole as part of staff,” added Damm. “Her internship allowed Nicole to develop a clear understanding of the services we provide and her responsibilities as a victim advocate. Her desire to help others and the compassion she has for children and their families who have been victims of abuse will serve her well.”
Located at 301 Beech St., the CAC of Oswego County is a non-profit charitable organization that provides a safe, child-friendly site for the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse.
