OSWEGO COUNTY – Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year to promote environmental protection through cleanup and sustainability events. This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet” invites people to unite behind renewable energy as well.
Canal Clean Sweep is an annual cleanup initiative which aims to keep waterways clear for generations to come. Hosted by the New York State Canal Corporation and Parks and Trails New York, the occasion includes more than 100 statewide cleanup events over the weekend around Earth Day. Groups focus on clearing various sections of the canal including trails, parks and other public areas within the canal corridor.
