Catholic Charities To Unveil New Client Choice Food Pantry, Thrift Shop

FULTON, NY – After months of remodeling, Catholic Charities of Oswego County is ready to unveil its completely remodeled Food Pantry and Thrift Shop.

Those who utilize the services of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Food Pantry and Thrift Shop will be pleasantly surprised to see that the facility has a entire new design that makes it much more convenient and user friendly.

Executive Director, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow has announced that the remodeling project provided Catholic Charities’ Food Pantry and its Thrift Shop with a complete makeover.

According to Pezzella-Pekow, the new design allows the agency to serve its consumers much more efficiently.

“We have re-designed our Food Pantry and converted it into a “client choice” facility that will allow our consumers to walk through our pantry and, with the help of our staff, pick out the food items that they prefer. Rather than our staff providing them with a box of food they will be able to select their choices from what is available on our pantry shelves. It is a much more efficient and personal way for our consumers to get the food they need for themselves and their family,” she explained.

In addition to the pantry makeover, shoppers at Catholic Charities’ Thrift Shop will also find it easier to browse the aisles, as there are new displays and additional space for clothing, furniture, and other essential items that are available at the store.

One of the most exciting renovations is the addition of an area where clients have access to computer kiosks so they can conduct job searches on-line.

“We are excited about the changes that this project brings and are looking forward to our grand opening on Nov. 16 when we will be able to showcase our newly remodeled Client Choice Food Pantry and Thrift Shop to the community,” added Pezzella-Pekow.

To accommodate the final stages of the remodel, Catholic Charities’ Food Pantry and Thrift Shop will be closed Nov. 11, 12, and 13.

The free fresh food distribution scheduled for Nov. 11 will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. or until food is gone, at the Fulton Elks Lodge, 57 Pierce Drive in Fulton.

The newly remodeled Client Choice Food Pantry and Thrift Shop will open Nov. 16 and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
