CENTRAL SQUARE, NY – Central Square Central School District has sent out the following letter in regards to the district’s voting ballots.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
- If you are a registered voter and you have yet to receive your ballot, please email the Board Clerk, Pearl Horn, at [email protected] as soon as you can so she can rectify each situation. It is not a problem with NTS, the company we use for the voting process, as they use the data provided to them from the Board of Elections.
- If you have a Yahoo email address and you notice that district employees are not responding to your email, please check your spam folder because approximately four months ago, a staff member clicked on aphishing link and as a result Yahoo assumed the district email was spam. Please check your spam folderand when you locate the district’s email, please click on the “whitelist” option and then you will receivedistrict email moving forward. This is only happening to parents/guardians with a Yahoo email account.
- If you would rather deliver your ballots in person instead of mailing back your ballot envelop, you can deliver them in person to the Board Clerk at Central Square Intermediate (CSI) located at 68 School Drive in Central Square on Monday, June 8 from 9 AM to 4 PM or Tuesday, June 9 from 9 AM to 5 PM. She will be located at the main entrance of the building. ALL BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE BOARD CLERK BY 5 PM ON JUNE 9 FOR ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN NYS. When your ballots arrive either by mail or in person, our Board Clerk opens the envelope and removes the ballot (without ever unfolding the ballot) and drops it immediately into a locked box. At 5 PM, she opens the locked box and begins the massive tally. There are no names on the actual ballots so confidentiality is protected. The reason why the State requires the voter’s name and information on the envelope is to make sure that the person is an eligible voter according to the list we receive from the Board of Elections, as well as guaranteeing that voters only vote one time. We recognize the inconvenience associated with mass absentee ballot voting, but this was an executive order from the Governor and we had to comply.
