Chamber Recognizes Project Bloom Sponsors

OSWEGO, NY – The Project Bloom Committee of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce recognized participants and sponsors of Project Bloom at a special Chamber Perc Club held July 16 at the river’s end bookstore.

Sponsors and members of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Project Bloom Committee were recently honored at the chamber’s July Perc Club. Comprised of a volunteer committee of businesses and civic-minded citizens, Project Bloom, an initiative of the chamber, continues to beautify the city of Oswego and its many parks during the traditional growing season.

Project Bloom works to raise financial support to pay for materials to plant five large parks, 22 flower planters, 60 flowering hanging baskets and 20 decorative banners in the two primary travel corridors of the city.

The committee designs, plants and manages the ongoing care of all of the flowers, beds and baskets.

“We are grateful to the local individuals and businesses who support Project Bloom by sponsoring parks, baskets, banners and planters,” said Beth Hilton, executive director of the chamber. “We appreciate all of our sponsors as well as the city of Oswego DPW and the Mayor’s Office who work with us on strategic planning, watering and maintenance of the flowers and the downtown planters and the city’s Traffic Department who takes care of the hanging of the banners and the flower baskets each year. These coordinated efforts allow Project Bloom to successfully beautify our community.”

Project Bloom Committee chair Randy Zeigler of Ameriprise Financial Services praised committee members as well for their commitment to Project Bloom.

“Project Bloom is a hard-working committee that relishes the enjoyment of lovely flowers during the spring, summer and fall in our very attractive community by the lake,” said Zeigler.
