Fulton, NY – Karrie Damm, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, announced that the agency has recently been awarded a grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
According to Damm the grant will be used to upgrade and purchase new equipment for the CAC’s Pulaski location and provide additional training to those investigating child abuse case allegations in Oswego County.
“We are honored to have been recognized by the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation,” said Damm. “Their generous grant will allow us to better serve child abuse victims not only at our Pulaski site but also our Fulton site as we will be able to expand training regarding interviewing child abuse victims. It will help us streamline the process and provide additional support for disclosure and investigation.”
“Our goal at the Child Advocacy Center is to respond to child abuse allegations in a comprehensive manner that assists the children and families as well as our Multi Disciplinary Team of professionals. It’s humbling to know that our work is recognized and appreciated not only in Oswego County, but throughout Central New York as well,” added Damm.
Established by Jim and Juli Boeheim, the foundation strives to enrich the lives of kids in need within our Central New York Community, as well as, provide support for eliminating cancer through research and advocacy.
The foundation is committed to assisting organizations in need of funding to support innovative and creative projects and / or programs.
A non-profit organization, the CAC provides a range of services to children who have been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused.
Working together with law enforcement investigators, child protective services, medical providers, therapeutic professionals, victim support professionals, and the district attorney’s office, the CAC offers a safe, child-friendly site that is necessary for a well-coordinated, effective approach to child abuse investigation and prosecution, and service provision to families and individuals affected by child abuse.
