Oswego — The Oswego Children’s Board is inviting the community to join in Oswego’s First community read. The book chosen for this community read is ‘Three Cups of Tea’ by Greg Mortenson.

After a failed mountain climb in Pakistan, Mortenson was severely injured. The village people nursed him back to health. His promise to the village was to come back and build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mortenson has devoted his life to this project and has built over 100 schools in these countries.

Mortenson will be visiting Oswego on October 28th. He will be speaking at SUNY Oswego that evening at 7:00 pm. Tickets are now on sale for $20.00. Buy one ticket and you may take a student with you.

The Oswego Children’s Board is collecting Pennies for Peace. All money collected in the containers throughout downtown and Oswego County will be used to build schools. Everyone is encouraged to put their loose change in these containers.

Your support will be very much appreciated.
