OSWEGO COUNTY – Students in the A+ program at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation (CiTi) are spreading joy to local pets with their homemade dog treats, “Growing Possibilities.”
The CiTi A+ program aims to promote students’ independence by building their social, emotional, behavioral and academic skills. The dog treat project has become an integral part of the curriculum, providing a meaningful and practical way to support this mission.
“We created this project as a hands-on initiative designed to help students develop their social and independent living skills,” said teacher Dayna Lunkenheimer. “It’s inspiring to watch their skills progress while creating something meaningful for our community.”
Students actively participate in every step of the process, working through separate stations equipped with step-by-step guides, templates and instructions. They begin by pre-measuring the all-natural, healthy ingredients, then move on to mixing, baking and cutting the treats into shapes. Once the treats are ready, students label, fill and seal the treat bags.
Local dogs have eagerly taste-tested the treats and can’t get enough of their wholesome ingredients and two delicious flavors: Pawsome Pumpkin and Applelicious Adventures. Treat bags are available in small, medium and large sizes and can be purchased at the CoCo Cafe, located at 129 Cayuga Street in Fulton.
