OSWEGO, New York – The upcoming Farnham Unplugged: Rock the Arts event is drawing a lot of enthusiasm in the community, and sponsors are signing up at various levels for the music and art benefit, according to Jeanne M. Unger, Executive Director of Farnham Family Services.

“We are very excited about the many business partners and sponsors that have joined on for our November event,” said Unger. “This community is very supportive of Farnham Family Services, and we are grateful that our Farnham Unplugged: Rock the Arts event will be a success because of that continued support.”

Pathfinder Bank, TK99/KRock, The Palladium Times, Oswego County Federal Credit Union, Constellation Energy, and Best Western Captain’s Quarter’s Hotel, have joined on as major sponsors of the upcoming event.

David Garibaldi, a world-renowned performance painter, will headline the benefit, which is scheduled for Friday, November 6th at 6 p.m. at the American Foundry in Oswego.

The fundraising event will also feature guest appearances by a variety of Central New York musicians including Frostbit Blue, Doc Apple, and The Predators.

Artwork by various regional artists will also be donated to the event for a silent auction.  The artwork will be available for bidding throughout the night.

Garibaldi, who is the opening act for the Blue Man Group, creates 6-foot portraits of pop icons to music at his live show, within minutes. He will create his work at the Farnham event.  His unique show is extremely versatile and has been featured with celebrities like Carlos Santana; utilized by Fortune 500 companies like AT&T; raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities; and used as a platform to motivate students and employees of various organizations.

According to Garibaldi, walking away from a life of graffiti in the streets was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make.  It wasn’t until a high school teacher challenged him to make his art more purposeful, that the decision was made.  He shares his personal struggles and triumphs through his wildly splashed paintings in his inspirational art performances.  Garibaldi paints live at urban jazz sessions, nightclubs, and hip hop events for direct influence by the music.  Some of the pop icons he is famous for painting include Albert Einstein, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, and Jerry Garcia, to name a few.  Visit him at www.garibaldiarts.com

Garibaldi’s work that he creates at the Farnham event will also be auctioned off after its completion, and will directly benefit Farnham Family Services’ Changing Lives Capital Appeal.

The agency’s goal for the 2009-10 year is to raise $50,000—which will provide direct funding for Farnham’s student assistance programs and youth development.

Pre-sale tickets are $25 per person, and $35 per person at the door.

Individuals, businesses, and corporate partners are welcome to help Farnham Family Services continue to “change lives” by generously making a donation or by attending their annual event.  Please contact Farnham Family Services at (315) 342-4489 for ticket, event, and sponsorship information.  Donations or correspondence can be sent to Farnham Family Services, 283 West Second Street, Suite 200, Oswego, NY 13126.
