OSWEGO – The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee presented a proclamation to the Oswego County Health Department in recognition of National Infant Immunization Week scheduled for April 21 to 28.
The annual recognition began in 1994 to raise awareness about the importance of early vaccination when babies and young children are most vulnerable and before they are exposed to more than a dozen serious childhood diseases.
Vaccines are among the most successful and cost effective public health tools available to prevent disease and death.
They not only help to protect the vaccinated individual, but also entire communities by preventing and reducing the spread of infectious diseases.
Families, groups and communities are encouraged to spread the immunization message and work together to protect each other.
