FULTON, NY – Area youth looking for help with their studies are welcome to participate in the After School Program at the Fulton CYO. The After School program provides students with computer access and tutoring assistance to help them with their studies.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer this type of program to our youth,” said Stacie Roberts, supervisor of Catholic Charities’ CYO Program. “The After School Program was established to help meet the needs of the students. The program offers area youth the opportunity to come to CYO and use our computers to do their homework and get familiar with operating a computer and using different software. Several of our computers have internet access as well to assist in any research they may need to do for their assignments.”
In addition to computer access, students can also seek help from a tutor who is also part of the After School Program. “The tutoring aspect was just a natural extension of the program. We have a college student on staff who enjoys working with the younger students and helping them with their studies,” added Roberts.
The After School Program is available Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The fall / winter 2011 – 2012 schedule for the CYO Program is Monday – Friday 3 to 7 p.m. Youth in grades 2 through 12 are welcome to drop in at any time to spend time with their friends and enjoy the many activities available at CYO including: open gym, basketball, floor hockey, foosball, air hockey, billiards, Wii and X-Box games, ping pong, computers with internet access and more!
During school vacation days and snow days the CYO will have an open recreation program from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition the CYO will host a Family Fall Festival on Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will feature games and activities for children of all ages, a bag auction, and families are welcome to tour the newly remodeled CYO facility and learn about the many services that the CYO Program offers to area youth. Those in attendance may also purchase tickets for a chance to win two drawings; one for a 26” VIZIO LCD / HD/TV with Wii Game Console with sports games and one that includes four one-day Park Hopper passes to Disney World in Orlando and one pair of Coach Certificates on AirTran Airways.
While there is no cost to attend Catholic Charities’ Family Fall Festival there will be nominal charge for activities and refreshments. Games and activities are priced at just twenty-five cents so that children will be able to have plenty of fun. All proceeds will be used for the CYO program and Catholic Charities’ food pantry. Families are also welcome to bring food donations for the pantry if they like.
