Doheny Wins Oswego County GOP Backing

The Oswego County Republican Committee has endorsed the candidacy of Matt Doheny of Watertown to represent New York’s 23rd Congressional District.

At a meeting this evening, the committee voted by a 3 – 1 margin to endorse Doheny over his primary candidate, Doug Hoffman of Saranac Lake. Chairman George Williams said Doheny impressed committee members with his “commitment to conservative principles” as well as his numerous visits to Oswego.

Paul Santore, City of Oswego GOP Chairman, commented that “Matt understands the issues we face. He has the experience and energy to get our district, and our country, on the right track.”

“Matt is an articulate conservative Republican who can effectively advocate for Oswego County and the entire 23rd District,” David Fontecchio, City of Fulton Republican Chairman, said.

According to Holly Carpenter of the city of Fulton, “We’re proud to support Matt. He is someone who won’t forget us when he’s in Washington.

On Wednesday, Doheny gained the endorsement of the Fulton County Republican Committee. Essex County, Oneida County, and Madison County Republican committees endorsed his candidacy earlier this month and in April. He also has endorsements from the St. Lawrence County Republicans’ Executive Committee, Fulton City Republican Committee, Oswego City Republicans, and GOP leaders in Clinton and Jefferson counties.

“I’m extremely grateful to so many people across the 23rd for their support, and for the time they have taken to meet with me and discuss the issues facing our district and the nation,” Doheny said. “They know I am in this to win it for them in November.”

Doheny, a lifelong Republican, is seeking the endorsements of the Republican, Conservative, and Independence parties in his bid to represent the 11-county, nearly 15,000-square-mile 23rd District. missing or outdated ad config
