Oswego Town – For some time now the Oswego Town Historical Society has been raising funds to erect a statue of their most famous resident, Dr. Mary Walker, the only women to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and the count down to the statue’s placement is fast approaching.

While the fund raising is winding down, the OTHS is short of their final goal and funds are still needed. Recently, Eagle Beverage of Oswego, and its owners announced a donation of $1,000, which will be noted on a bronze plaque on the statue’s base. Other $1,000 donations that have been received are from Mr. and Mrs. Tom Czerow, Donald Worden and Louise Kellogg. Eagle Beverage’s name will join them in a place of honor on the statue’s base.

Anyone who is interested in helping the statue fund reach its goal and perhaps honoring their family or business in doing so, may contact George DeMass or Theresa Cooper at the Oswego Town Hall. Any donation in any amount is welome.

The statue is being finished over this summer and it is hoped that it will be placed in front of the Oswego Town Hall in November, 2010 at a ceremony with the exact date to be announced. missing or outdated ad config
