OSWEGO, NY – With the 10th Annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest just days away excitement is building for one of the area’s most anticipated fundraisers.

A benefit for Oswego County Opportunities Literacy Volunteers, the fest takes place on September 22 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 312 W, Fifth St.
“Many of the teams that played last year are back as well new players that are excited about having the chance to be part of the fun of this year’s Scrabble Fest. And with features such as ‘Exchange a Tile,’ which allows teams to exchange tiles as they wish without losing their turn and ‘Golden Tiles,’ which play as a blank tile the games will be even more exhilarating. Don’t miss out on the fun, register your team today,” said Coordinator of OCO Literacy Volunteers Meg Henderson.
Teams of four players will enjoy four ty rounds of play.
The three teams with the highest scores will receive prizes.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games will begin at 6:30 p.m.
New this year will be a variety of prizes to win by spinning The Literacy Wheel.
They include gift cards from local businesses and restaurants ranging from $10 to $235 in value.
Back by popular demand are the Lottery ticket board and 50 / 50 drawing.
“We have an exciting list of prizes including four Fast Passes for Walt Disney World; four one-day admission tickets for Six Flags Great Escape; a $100 gift certificate for JP Jewelers; several items from Harbor Towne Gifts; two weekday plus passes for Sea Breeze; and a $50 gift card from Rivers End Bookstore,” added Henderson.
Entry fee for a team of four is $100 and includes food and refreshments.
The cost for individuals wishing to attend but not compete in the event is $15. This fee includes food and refreshments.
All proceeds will benefit OCO Literacy Volunteers.

OCO Literacy Volunteers provides confidential tutoring services at no cost to the student.
Tutoring includes basic literacy (reading and writing), English literacy to improve English speaking, reading and writing skills, and some simple math and computer skills.
