FULTON – Ben Geiss, shift manager for Exelon Generation, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, made a presentation on operations there at the Feb. 18 meeting of the Fulton Lions Club.
Geiss said that Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station can produce more than 1,937 megawatts of carbon-free electricity—enough to power more than one million homes. He also explained how nuclear power is produced and maintained at the station, as well as the ongoing training employees receive and how involved the company is in the local community.
The Fulton Lions Club, also known for its Lions Loot Sweepstakes, Lions Mane Event Comedy Night, and annual Duck Derby, provides financial assistance for those in need of eyeglasses, eye exams, and hearing aids to residents in the Greater Fulton area.
