Families Are Invited to Tour Camp Hollis at May 23 Open House

OSWEGO – Families who want to learn more about Camp Hollis are invited to an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 23. Parents and children can tour the camp, visit sleeping cabins, meet the staff and enjoy samples of camp activities. The camp is located on Lakeshore Road in the Town of Oswego.

Camp Hollis is owned by the County of Oswego and operated as a residential children’s camp by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. Children are supervised by trained staff. Meals and snacks are prepared according to federal Department of Agriculture regulations. A full-time registered nurse serves on the staff.

The Youth Bureau is accepting camper applications for the summer season. Children can register for week-long sessions beginning July 4 and running through Aug. 20.  There will be a special “mini-camp” July 1 and 2 to introduce eight-year-olds to an overnight summer camp experience.

Registration fees are set on a sliding scale, depending on family size and household income.  Families experiencing financial difficulty may contact the Youth Bureau for information on other payment options.  Full and partial scholarships are available from the Friends of Camp Hollis.
