Firefighters’ Benefit for Young Cancer Victim set Saturday

OSWEGO, NY –  The Oswego City Firefighters Association will host a chicken barbecue benefit for Julian Ross on Saturday.

Julian is a local seven year old boy with Stage IV Neuroblastoma (Cancer).

This is an aggressive type of cancer that started in his adrenal gland and has spread throughout his body.

Julian was diagnosed on August 4, 2011, and since then has had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, bone marrow aspirations, scans, transfusions and blood draws.

Julian and his family make frequent visits to CHOP (Children”s Hospital Of Philadelphia) for his cancer fighting treatments and he often has to be admitted to the hospital.

Julian will be receiving Proton Therapy and Monoclonal Antibodies soon which comes at a cost of $450,000, which is partially covered by his family’s insurance, but added to their accumulated mountain of debt makes daily living a struggle.

The Ross family has had to make tough decisions lately like selling their home, furniture, personal belongings, wedding ring and more.

As a community we have an opportunity to help Julian and his family get through this very tough time in their lives and with our support can at least ease some of their monetary stress.

Please open your hearts, put yourself in their position and ask “What Can I Do To Help”?

The chicken barbecue will be held on August 4 (one year anniversary of Julian’s diagnosis) at the Port City Faith Assembly of God located at 436 W. Fifth St., Oswego.

The event will start at 11:30 a.m. and go until dinners are sold out. The cost is $10 per dinner, which includes a half chicken, baked beans, salt potatoes and a roll.

Presale tickets are available for purchase at the East Side Fire Station located at 35 E. Cayuga St. or call Brooks Hourigan at 342-5570. 100% of the proceeds go to the Ross family to help pay Julian’s medical bills.

We will also be raffling off items such as an I Pod Touch as well as a 50/50 drawing and selling Julians Joust bracelets.

Please save the date and pass this information on to your family and friends. If you have items that you would like to donate for the auction or if you would like to make a monetary donation please call 342-5570.

Julian has a web page http://www.juliansjoust.com/  Please visit his site, read about Julian and sign his guestbook or become a member to show him that he is not alone in this fight. missing or outdated ad config
