Focus On Faculty Concert Feb. 14 To Feature Classical Works

OSWEGO — SUNY Oswego music faculty duo Trevor Jorgensen and Robert Auler will offer a Focus on Faculty concert featuring works of Bach, Bernstein and Schumann at 3 p.m. Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

Jorgensen on woodwinds, accompanied on several pieces by pianist Auler, will play J.S. Bach’s “Sonata in G minor BWV 1020” for soprano saxophone and piano; Paule Maurice’s “Tableaux de Provence” for alto saxophone and piano; Ryo Noda’s “Improvisation I” for unaccompanied alto saxophone; Paul Bonneau Caprice’s “En Forme de Valse” for unaccompanied alto saxophone; Robert Schumann’s “Fantasy Pieces Op. 73” for clarinet and piano; and Leonard Bernstein’s “Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.”

The repertoire ranges from the light and whimsical Baroque of Bach’s sonata to the jazz-influenced, mulitmetered composition of Bernstein, Jorgensen said.

Tickets for this Focus on Faculty performance and others in the series are $8 ($5 for SUNY Oswego students), and are available at any SUNY Oswego box office, online through tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 315-312-2141.

Parking, included in the price of a ticket, is available in the lots adjacent to and across Washington Boulevard from Sheldon Hall.
