MEXICO – A former student of the Public Safety and Justice program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation and current member of the US Army Reserves recently stopped by the program to share her experiences in the military.
Shelby Buffham, a 2016 graduate from the Fulton City School District, met with former classmates and discussed her time spent in basic training.
Buffham, who served as one of the captains for the program last year, said basic training pushed her physically and mentally but made her stronger in the end.
“There were certain things that were really hard to do,” said Buffham. “But I always go through it.”
According to Buffham, the Public Safety and Justice program served as the perfect springboard to her military career, noting that program’s coursework and hands-on activities helped prepare her for some of the challenges faced during basic training.
“Going into basic (training), I knew some things, like commands and language they used,” Buffham said. “Going to CiTi definitely helped prepare me.”
