Free Child Car Seat Inspections, Assistance Scheduled

OSWEGO – The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, through the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board today (Sept. 18) announced that free child car seat inspections are available to parents and caregivers during weeks September 18 – 30 in Oswego County.

As part of a year-long safety initiative, state and local law enforcement agencies, along with various community safety partners are offering free child car seat inspections by certified child passenger safety technicians.

“By learning to properly install your child’s car seat, you take the first step to being safe on new York’s roadways while enjoying all that New York has to offer , ” said OCTSB coordinator Jessica McGiff.

Trained technicians will use the model of “Learn, Practice, and Explain” to educate each caregiver on how to select a child restrain that will fit their child, fit their vehicle, and be used correctly every time.

Seat checks will be held at the following:

Hannibal Fire Department September 20: 6-8 p.m.
Lowe’s Oswego September 23: 10 a.m. – noon.
Oswego East Side Fire Station September 30: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
