MINETTO – The New Horizons Chorus will be joined by the Sounds of Brass in a free public concert on September 8 at 7 p.m. at the Minetto United Methodist Church.
The chorus will be singing a selection of songs from Broadway by such luminaries as Cole Porter, Richard Rogers, Oscar Hammerstein, and Andrew Lloyd Weber, drawn from Phantom of the Opera, Gypsy, Wildcats, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, to name a few.
Taking their cue from the chorus, the Sounds of Brass will also be playing numbers from Broadway as well as other popular tunes.
The group has been playing together for 11 years and presently consists of two trumpeters, one trombonist, one percussionist, one French horn player, and two tuba players. They perform free of charge in Oswego and neighboring counties.
The group is led by Frank Bickel, professor emeritus of SUNY Oswego.
