Fulton CYO Offers Halloween Festivities For Youth

FULTON, NY – The CYO Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County invites area youth to enjoy some Halloween fun, as it will host a Pumpkin Carving contest and a Halloween Party for children in grades K through 6th.

On Oct. 19, from 4 – 5:30 p.m., the CYO hosts its annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. The first 50 contestants will receive a free pumpkin that they can clean and carve for entry into one of three categories; best overall, most original, and scariest.

There will be divisions for boys K-3rd grade and 4th – 6th grade, girls K-3rd grade and girls 4th – 6th grade.

Winners in each category will be awarded special prizes.

In addition to the Pumpkin Carving Contest children will be able to participate in a variety of arts and crafts projects.

On Oct. 21, the CYO’s annual Halloween Party for boys and girls in grades K through 6th will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.  Admission is free and children will enjoy complimentary cider and donuts as they visit a ‘spooktacular’ haunted house and participate in the costume contest.

There will be divisions for boys K-3rd grade and 4th – 6th grade, girls K-3rd grade and girls 4th – 6th grade.  Prizes will be awarded for best overall, most original, scariest, and funniest costume.

Participants in the costume-judging contest must be in costume and at the CYO no later than 4:30 p.m.

Program coordinator Jim Smiley and his staff are looking forward to this year’s Halloween events.

“They are really are fun events.  It provides the children with an opportunity to enjoy the festivities of Halloween in a friendly and safe environment.  The children enjoy the haunted house and seeing all the different costumes.  It’s great to see the amount of work and imagination that goes into making their costumes,” said Smiley.

All Halloween activities will be held at the CYO, 365 W. First St.
