FULTON – Volney, Granby, Fairgrieve and Lanigan elementary schools held kindergarten orientation events to educate both the kindergarten students and their families on what to expect in their first full year of full-day class time.

Students settled into their new learning spaces as they put their backpacks away in cubby spaces, found a spot to sit where some students got to keep “The Night Before Kindergarten” books, learned about benchmarks and standards and listened as teachers outlined classroom expectations.
Several kindergarten teachers were overjoyed to meet their new class and all welcomed them with open arms.
At Granby Elementary School, teacher Candace McCann said she will work with her kindergarteners on self-reflections throughout the 2017-2018 school year as a means of taking ownership of their learning.
