FULTON, NY – On June 5, the Fulton Lions Club dedicated an engraved granite bench in memory of Lion Bob Weston and his wife, Sandy, it was announced by club President Patrick Devendorf.

The bench is located in Lock 3 Canal View Park next to the Fulton marina and reads: “In memory of Lion Bob Weston and his wife, Sandy. Together, their community involvement and service to Fulton made it a better place for all of us.”  Devendorf said, “Bob, who passed in March 2021,  was a treasured and exemplary Fulton Lion. His positive influence and many friendships extended well beyond our club and into the community he loved. He took great pride in selling the most tickets to our Charby’s Duck Derby each year, and we are delighted that so many people contributed funds in his memory to make this possible.

“His wife, Sandy, who passed in October 2021, was extremely active in mobilizing concerned citizens to establish the Fulton Safe Drinking Water Action Committee, and she was later appointed to the NY State Superfund Management Board by Governor Cuomo. Together they were a wonderful team that enriched the lives of our community, while they cherished and enjoyed their large family.

“I want to extend a special thank you to Lion Past Presidents David Guyer and  Gail Jones for their work in obtaining and producing the bench with Sweet Woods Memorials. We are also grateful to Mayor Rice for his assistance in securing the bench’s location, which will also be  part of the upcoming marina renovation project.”

Mayor Rice, also a Fulton Lion, was on-hand for the dedication with many members of the Weston Family. Joining President Devendorf were Lions Matt Overton, Ron Browning, David Dingman,  Michelle Stanard,  Becky Devendorf, Dennis Rupert, Jones and Guyer.

The Fulton Lions Club,  known for their Lions Loot Sweepstakes, annual Charby’s Duck Derby, and Mane Event Comedy Night, provides financial assistance for those in need of eyeglasses, eye exams and hearing aids to residents in the Greater Fulton area.  For more information on the Fulton Lions Club, visit www.fultonlionsclub.com, or find them on Facebook.
