FULTON, NY – First celebrated in June 1910, at the Spokane YMCA in Washington, Father’s Day is now a national celebrated holiday.
Founded by Sonora Louis Smart Dodd, the daughter of a single father and Civil War veteran, was inspired by a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.

She wondered why there was no such day for fathers when fathers were also a crucial part of the family.
With her ambition and local YMCA she developed the first ever Father’s Day event.
In keeping with tradition the Fulton Family YMCA is hosting a Father’s Day BBQ on June 6 from 6 – 8 p.m.
We will be having a cookout with a bounce house, face painting and family friendly outdoor games including a waterballoon toss.
This is a great event to recognize the impact that fathers and adult male role models make in children’s lives.
Our Father’s Day Celebration is for members and non-members.
The cost for members is $5 per family and non-members is $10 per family.
Prices include all the food and activities for the night.
This is a great way to have an afforadable family dinner while playing family games.
Registration is through June 4; no late registrations will be accepted.
For more information or to register, contact the Fulton Family YMCA at 598-9622 or stop in at 715 W. Broadway.
