Students from Granby Elementary School recently attended a district board of education meeting and presented project they completed based on an ancient civilization.
In early December, sixth grade students in Joe McNamara’s social studies classes were tasked with creating projects that in some way reflected Ancient Egypt.
According to McNamara, each project needed to follow at least one of the five pillars of Ancient Egypt: geography, religion, culture, economy and government.
Students created an assortment of projects imitating some of the more famous monuments of Ancient Egypt, such as pyramids, sarcophagi and hieroglyphics.
The projects were displayed throughout the school for students, teachers and parents to appreciate.
Several students were then afforded the opportunity to showcase their projects before the board of education, much to the pleasure of the board and Superintendent William Lynch.
“Thank you for coming and sharing what you learned. It’s great to remind us of all the hard work you and your classmates have put into the projects,” Lynch told the students.
