MEXICO, NY – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, in collaboration with the Soil and Water Conversation districts of Onondaga and Oswego counties, will be providing a workshop to educate agricultural producers on different strategies in incorporating intensive rotational grazing on their farm.
The day is geared toward individuals who are interested in grazing or looking for information to improve their grazing system.
Individuals attending the workshop will have an opportunity to attend sessions on the following topics:
Dr. Darrel Emmick, retired NRCS-NY State Grazinglands Specialist, will speak on Grazing: Some Tidbits I Have Picked up Over the Past 30 Years. The presentation will cover some animal behavior with its relation to grazing as well as differences in grazing systems etc.
Kevin Ganoe, Team Leader and Field Crops Specialist for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Central New York Dairy and Field Crops Team will discuss strategies for the intensive management of pasture.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, April 9, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moyers Corners Fire Department Station #1 at the corner of 8481 Oswego Road and County Route 57, Baldwinsville.
There is a $5 admission for the workshop and lunch will be included thanks to support from the Graze-NY Initiative.
Anyone who is interested in the program is asked pre-register by April 8.
