PLAINFIELD, VT – On Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, Griffin James Brady, 2002 graduate of Oswego High School, and son of Billie and Dennis Brady, of Oswego, received his Master’s Degree in Ethnomusicology from Goddard College, Vermont.
Mr. Brady’s master’s thesis concluded with a drum method book, “The Sly Boots Guide To Life and Drumming,†designed to take the student through a regimen of drumming exercises that include self awareness study, goal setting, and meditation.
The book, as well as the music pedagogy process paper, combine research on several cultural philosophies and focuses on the origins of percussion in Africa.
Mr. Brady expects to publish the method book in early 2011.
He is an accomplished percussionist and has traveled throughout the United States and Ghana, West Africa, with renowned musician, Bernard Woma.
He credits his love of the drums to his teachers in Oswego, including, Heather Sweeting, Tony Joseph, Bill Palange and John Bletch.
