Hannibal Judge retires after 36 years

At a recent meeting of the Oswego County Magistrates Association(OCMA), New York State Magistrates Association (NYSMA) President Edward G. Van Der Water, made an official appearance to honor the Hon. Luther J. Dennison, Town Justice, Town ofHannibal.

Judge Dennison was presented with a plaque and certification of appreciation from the NYSMA and the OCMA.

Judge Dennison was first elected to the post in 1973 and was re-elected every four years for thirty-six years.

In 2009, he decided not to run for another term.

  1. Luther Dennison is my grandfather. It has been such a whirlwind full of joy this past year as people have come forward and together to honor him. Though I am not surprised at the vast number of community members who have attended this past year’s events and voiced their praise, I am purely delighted that so many have been so warm and caring, and that you have all recognized the importance in making sure such a loyal, hard working, and respected man retires knowing how much he was appreciated. I know it has put a smile on his face, and in turn on the faces of his family members. We are so proud of him.
