HANNIBAL – The Hannibal Central School District recently wrapped up its Summer Warrior Weeks, which provided hands-on learning, fun and friendship for students in the district.
The new summer enrichment program took place in two separate week-long sessions in early August at Dennis M. Kenney Middle School.
Students participated in a variety of activities such as a musical play; drumming workshop; board and card games; culinary creations; science, technology, engineering and math challenges; an introduction to cosmetology; lawn games; gymnastics and tumbling; cheer camp; creative writing; tap dancing; sports; and self-image/self-awareness activities.
Hannibal Superintendent Christopher Staats said he was pleased to see the enrollment of 50 students in the inaugural program.
Each student received a water bottle, snack and materials to help them fully participate in a session of their choice per week.
Several students said they were thrilled to create solar-powered s’more makers and construct catapults, while a handful of others excitedly researched food items to cook by week’s end.
All workshops were led by Hannibal teachers and teacher assistants.
