
Classes of Oswego County Head Start Preschool will begin September 9th. The program is still accepting applications for registration. Head Start is a quality preschool program that enrolls 3- and 4-year-old children at no cost to families. The program’s primary goal is promoting school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children. Knowing that children learn best through hands-on experiences, Head Start classrooms are well-equipped with a variety of materials and resources that encourage students to explore, create, play, and learn.
In the Head Start Preschool program children are served nutritious meals and snacks, family involvement is encouraged, support services are offered, and nurses are available. “These are some of the things that make Head Start Preschool unique,†states Heather Crofoot, Transition Assistant for the program.
Head Start Preschool has centers throughout Oswego County, enrolling children from all nine school districts and is available to families with incomes at or below federally set guidelines.
