GENESEO, NY — Faculty members at the State University of New York at Geneseo recently elected a local student to the college’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most widely known academic honor society.
Holly Gilbert, a Senior from Oswego, was among the 79 students selected for membership this spring from Geneseo’s junior and senior classes.
About 10 percent of the nation’s institutions of higher learning have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Geneseo is the only undergraduate SUNY college with a chapter, which was created in 2004.
SUNY Geneseo is a premiere public liberal arts college dedicated to developing socially responsible citizens with skills and values for a productive life.
