Human Concerns holds signups for Thanksgiving baskets

OSWEGO, NY – Human Concerns will begin accepting applications for the annual distribution of Thanksgiving dinner baskets on October 22. Households of two or more are eligible if those households reside in the Oswego City School District.

Families can register between noon and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Human Concerns Center located at 85 E. Fourth St.

Applications will be accepted until November 16. Baskets can be picked up on the morning of November 20 for those who have registered. All applicants will need to provide the following information: proof of residence in the Oswego City School District for each adult over the age of 18 and identification for all members of the family (birth certificate, Social Security card, Benefits cards, or in date driver’s license will all be accepted).

“Thanks to the generosity of the Oswego Firefighters, local growers, local grocery stores, churches, organizations, hardworking volunteers and the Oswego community, we hope to be able to provide nutritious dinner supplies to all who are eligible and need assistance,” said HC director Deborah Deeb. “Based on our daily distribution numbers, we see that there is a growing need for assistance here in Oswego, and we are pleased to receive food or monetary contributions at any time. If any groups or individuals would like to sponsor one or more families for the holidays, they should contact us.”

The cost of sponsoring a family is approximately $25.
