OSWEGO COUNTY – The Annie Porter Ainsworth Memorial Library hosts its 2023 summer reading program, “All Together Now,” which offers a wide variety of weekly activities and events. All programming is held at the library, 6064 S. Main St., Sandy Creek.

The program encourages people of all ages to continue reading over the summer by offering them the opportunity to win prizes. Participants can track their reading in person or online with READsquared until Friday, Aug. 18. Readers will receive an entry to win a prize basket for every book they read – earning more entries the more books they read! The drawing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Bring the kids to Little Readers Story Hour at 12:30 p.m. on Mondays in July and August. Readers can also go on a StoryWalk, a fun way to enjoy reading while being outside. There are three new stories available to walk through on the library’s lawn, accessible every day except Wednesdays.

The library offers additional themed events and activities throughout the program.

Saturday STEAM activities and challenges are offered at 11 a.m. on July 22, Aug. 5 and Aug. 12 and there are different self-directed activities planned each week, such as:

  • July 24: circle of friends – handprint poster
  • July 31: friendship bracelets
  • 7: rock painting
  • 14: cards of encouragement

On Saturday, July 29, the Twin Magicians and their assistant bunny, Roger Rabbit, will visit the library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. They will perform a family magic show including balloon sculptures. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for the outdoor event.

The summer reading program wraps up on Saturday, August 19 at 11 a.m. as Zoo New York presents BRIM – birds, reptiles, invertebrates and mammals – for people to enjoy before the summer reading prize drawings.

Registration for the summer reading program is required. For more information or to register, contact the Ainsworth Memorial Library at 315-387-3732 missing or outdated ad config
