Julie Chetney Inducted into Oswego Rotary Club

OSWEGO – Julie Chetney, Director of Senior Services at Bishop’s and St. Francis’ Commons at St. Luke, was formally inducted into Rotary membership at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Oswego held at Bishop’s Commons.

Chetney was born and raised in Oswego and was a Kingsford Park student and Oswego High School Class of 1989 graduate. She attended SUNY Oswego and earned a degree in psychology with a minor in human service. She has been married to her husband Brian for 25 years, and they have four children: Claudia, Jake, Alex, and Nate.

Chetney has worked at St. Luke Health Services for 29 years and at Bishop’s Commons since it opened in March 2000. Since then, the facility has been home for 789 residents, including at least four members of Chetney’s own family. Most residents come from Oswego County. About 500 people have been employed there over the past 25 years.

Active in the community, Chetney is a member of the Oswego County Autism Task Force, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, New Visions Advisory Board, and the Kingsford Park Home and School Association. She also serves as a youth soccer coach.

Chetney was proposed for Rotary membership by Sabine Ingerson, Terry Gorman, and David Granoff, members and officers of the club.

Anyone interested in becoming a Rotarian or in learning more about Rotary’s humanitarian work around the world and in the community is invited to attend a meeting of the Oswego Rotary Club any Tuesday at noon at Bishop’s Commons.
