MEXICO, NY – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County recently sponsored a one-day Maple Confections Workshop.
It was conducted at CCE’s 4-H Environmental Education Center on Route 183 in Williamstown, according to Jonathan (JJ) Schell, CCE of Oswego County Agriculture Team Coordinator.
The workshop was part of the Cornell University Maple Program and was conducted by Stephen Childs, New York State Maple Extension Specialist from Cornell University.
Mr. Childs, shown standing, is sharing his maple confections experience with workshop attendees.
The event featured training and hands-on experience in making maple confections.
The workshop was designed for very experienced, as well as novice confection makers.
Each participating maple farm received a New York State Maple Confections notebook, appropriate tools for measuring invert sugar in maple support, and a digital candy thermometer.
