More than 150,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States, making colon cancer the second leading cause of all cancer deaths among men and women equally.

Medical experts recommend screening for all adults beginning at age 50 or earlier if there is a family history of colon cancer.

At hand to receive the proclamation were representatives from the Colon Cancer Alliance.
