Marching Bucs In Competition Saturday

OSWEGO, NY – This Saturday evening the “Pride of Oswego,” the 2010 edition  of the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers, will open the New York State Field Band Conference season at East Syracuse-Minoa.

Director Stephen Defren noted, “This year our show is entitled ‘The Proper Ornaments of Life’ and it explores what is truly important in life and what really makes us happy.”

This year’s program will be very interesting and unique.

There will also be a new look when the Marching Bucs, led by drum Major Jacqueline Hondro, take the field for competition.

In competition at ES-M will be four other National Division bands along with six other high school groups.

Oswego will be joined by Central Square, Cicero-North Syracuse, West Genesee and Liverpool in the National Division while completing the show will be East Ramapo, Baldwinsville, New Hartford, Horseheads, Jordan-Elbridge and host East Syracuse-Minoa.

It is expected Oswego will be the second National Division band to take the field for competition and the Marching Bucs are expected to perform at 7:45 p.m.

Next Saturday evening the Bucs will compete at Cicero-North Syracuse before hosting the 32nd Pageant of Champions at Joe Wilber Field in Oswego on Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

Vying in this year’s show are National Division bands West Genesee, Webster, Cicero-North Syracuse, Liverpool, Victor and Central Square with the Marching Bucs in exhibition.

Also performing in competition will be Auburn, Phoenix, East Irondequoit, Norwich, Jordan-Elbridge and East Syracuse-Minoa. missing or outdated ad config
